Honda Insight the most affordable hybrid in the US

Mounting environmental concerns around the world are pushing companies to invest in more green cars for their fleet, whether they are hybrid or full-electric cars.

If you're a fleet manager looking to cut down your carbon footprint, you may be interested to hear that the Honda Insight is one of the most affordable hybrid cars in the market.

Honda revealed that the 2014 Insight, recently released in the United States, is the most affordable hybrid in the American market. It has a manufacturer's suggested retail price starting at just under AUS$20,000.

As ever, Honda has managed to fit its legendary functionality and reliability into the smallest of price tags. The new Insight combines an amazingly fuel-efficient powertrain with the practicality and spaciousness of a hatchback.

Of course, one of the Insight's standout features is its environmental friendliness. The 2013 Insight made the list of the "Greenest Vehicles of 2013" compiled by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), according to a November 18 media release.

Honda has not skimped on safety in designing the new Insight, either. The Japanese manufacturer's trademarked Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure provides more comprehensive passenger protection in crashes with vehicles of different sizes. This is one of the features that led to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) naming the Insight a "2013 Top Safety Pick".

In Australia, the Insight has received similar accolades for its unrivalled level of safety, easily earning five ANCAP stars for its frontal, side and head airbags.

If the affordability, fuel efficiency and safety of your vehicles is a priority on your fleet management program, it could be wise to give the new Insight some serious consideration.
