Sydney businesses save money by going green

Taking a more environmentally conscious approach towards day to day business can be massively beneficial not only to the future of our planet, but also towards reductions in expenses as well.

By taking steps as simple as procuring green cars for your fleet, reducing the amount of paper in your office or installing separated recycling bins, you can ensure your organisation is doing its part to create a greener future for Australia.

For proof of the benefits that can be received through a little bit of environmental awareness, one need only look at the results of Sydney's Smart Green Business program.

According to lord mayor Clover Moore, nearly 300 NSW businesses are already participating in the program, and have collectively saved $1.3 million on their day to day utility and waste bills.

"After three years, the participating businesses have shown the significant environmental and financial benefits of making their operations more energy-efficient and sustainable," said Ms Moore, in a statement released November 20.

"I hope this encourages more companies to follow their lead."

If you are looking for ways to help improve the environmental efficiency of your organisation, it might be worth considering an investment in fleet management software.

Software for fleet management can provide you with comprehensive reports on the fuel consumption rates of your fleet, helping you to determine exactly where improvements could be potentially made.

This could be anything from a vehicle which is not running to its utmost efficiency and needs replacing or maintenance, to an employee who is driving wastefully on the road.

By identifying and improving these deficiencies, you can help save money for your fleet while reducing the amount of C02 greenhouse gas emissions as well.

And while it might not seem like the actions of one company will make that much of a difference, the truth is that it is important for everyone to do their part in order to ensure a safe and healthy future for our country and the world.
